Hannah Green Claims Third LA Championship Title with Clutch Performance
Australian golfer Hannah Green secured her third JM Eagle LA Championship victory in four years with a stunning comeback performance at El Caballero Country Club.
Remarkable Back-Nine Surge
Facing a six-stroke deficit to Sei Young Kim on the 11th green, Green appeared to be out of contention. However, she responded with an incredible stretch of golf, recording four consecutive birdies on holes 13-16 to get back into the mix.
"I honestly didn't think I was in the tournament still," Green admitted after the round. This mindset shift allowed her to play freely and attack pins without the pressure of protecting a lead.
Playoff Victory
The tournament concluded in a three-way playoff involving Green, Kim, and Jin Hee Im at 17-under par. On the first playoff hole (18th), Green hit a wedge from 130 yards and rolled in a 12-foot right-to-left breaking putt for birdie after Kim's 35-foot attempt came up short.
Season Success
This victory marks Green's fourth worldwide win in 2026, including the HSBC Women's World Championship in Singapore, along with victories at the Women's Australian Open and Australian WPGA. The 29-year-old now has eight career LPGA Tour victories and joins Hyo Joo Kim as the only multiple winners this season.
Green's six-stroke comeback demonstrates exceptional mental toughness rather than luck. The four consecutive birdies from holes 13-16 highlight her precision in approach shots and putting consistency under extreme pressure.
