Lauren Coughlin opened the Aramco Championship with a 5-under 67 at Shadow Creek, sharing the lead with Nasa Hataoka and Miyu Yamashita in a three-way tie.

Coughlin's familiarity with the venue stems from last year's match play format, where she played an extensive 127 holes and finished as runner-up. > "I feel like I know this place really well. Been in a lot of the places that you don't want to be, so I feel like I just know the spots that I need to land it to a lot of the pins, where to miss if you have to," Coughlin explained.

The tournament has shifted from match play to stroke play format this year, featuring a $4 million purse that attracted every player from the top 20 in women's world rankings.

One shot behind are Nelly Korda and Hyo Joo Kim, both posting 68s. Korda closed with an eagle on the par-5 18th, while Kim seeks her third consecutive victory after winning the previous two LPGA events.
