Teen Sensation Sets the Pace

Seventeen-year-old Asterisk Talley from California delivered a masterclass performance over the first two rounds at Champions Retreat, becoming the first player to complete 36 holes bogey-free since the ANWA's inception in 2019. Her commanding 11-under 133 total gives her a one-shot lead heading into Saturday's finale at Augusta National.

Talley's second-round 67 began in spectacular fashion with birdies on her opening three holes, showcasing the form that made her a contender across multiple USGA championships in 2024.

Redemption Arc in Motion

The teenager enters the final round with unfinished business. Last year, she mounted a late charge and shot 68 in the final round, only to fall one shot short to Spain's Carla Bernat. "I think if you don't set the bar high, then you're never going to really succeed to your full expectation," Talley reflected, demonstrating the mindset that has driven her recent LPGA Tour appearance where she tied for 29th.

Elite Field Chasing

Tied for second at 10-under 134 are Sweden's Meja Örtengren (Stanford sophomore) and Colombia's Maria José Marin (Arkansas junior). Örtengren's highlight was a stunning 80-foot eagle putt from off the green at the par-5 third, while Marin capitalized on all four par-5s at Champions Retreat to position herself perfectly.

Augusta National Awaits

The final round at golf's most hallowed grounds represents more than just a tournament conclusion—it's the first public glimpse of Augusta National before next week's Masters. With the cut falling at 1-under 143, only the top 30 players and ties earned the privilege to compete on Saturday.

Notably missing the weekend are U.S. Women's Amateur champion Megha Ganne and Thailand's Eila Galitsky, who fell just one shot short despite a strong finish.
